Apprenticeship Case Studies

Recruitment Coordinator, Polaris Central Services

Apprenticeship Completed: August 2022

When did you complete your apprenticeship?

The beginning of August 2022.

How have you progressed in the business since completing your apprenticeship?

Since completing the course, I have since been offered a permanent role at Polaris as Recruitment Co-ordinator.

What three words best describe a Social Work Degree apprenticeship?

Inclusive, practical, worthwhile

What attracted you to an apprenticeship at Polaris?

I found the apprenticship opportunity during lockdown in 2021 which had been refered to me by a friend. Due to me being made redundant in lockdown due to COVID, I had a drive to do better and to be better. I knew I fit the skill set and requirements for this role and especially with it being an apprenticship, it gave me that opportunity I always wanted- to progress myself and within a company.

What three life skills did an apprenticeship help you develop?

Determination.

A greater understanding of an organisation and the workings of a business.

Communication and interpersonal skills.

What one piece of advice would you give someone thinking about an apprenticeship?

Don’t be afriad. There is a lot of stigma around what age you are supposed to be when it comes to education or looking to re-learn. It is never too late.

What has been your proudest achievement since you started at Polaris?

To highlight just one proudest achievement wouldn’t be possible. Since starting Polaris, I have gained more qualifications, achievements and experience than I ever imagined. I am proud of myself and my growth as a person.

What are your aspirations for the future?

To continue to do the best I can when it comes to my growth and education. I am looking to continue my education journey and maybe join another course!
